FoCoL Plain compares two folders and then displays their differences or similarities. User can then direct FoCoL Plain to move/copy files between the two folders or completely synchronize their contents. Especially useful when resetting a system after a "Clean Install."
Operation:
Launch FoCoL Plain as you would any other application. Once launched begin operation by clicking the "Choose Folder 1" button. You will be presented with a standard Mac "Choose a file, folder or disk." dialog window. Once you have chosen 1, choose folder 2 in the same manner. Once you have chosen folder 2 the differences between the two folders will be displayed in the corresponding listboxes. To view their similarities click the "Sim" radio button in the "Method" grouping. Depending on method chosen it is not unusual for one or both of the listboxes being empty as not all folders will have differences/similarities.
If you have performed a "Clean Install" and have not changed any folder names, clicking any of the buttons in the "Clean Ins" grouping will automatically make the chosen comparison based on the contents of the Previous System Folder to the contents of the current System Folder.
Once a comparison has been made the following options are available;
Sync-this will completely synchronize the contents of the two folders by copying what is different about folder1 to folder 2 and vice-versa. This option is only available when viewing differences between folders.
Copy-this option allows you to copy chosen files between the two folders. (NOTE To make non-contiguous selections hold down the "Command" key when selecting.)
Move-this option allows you to move selections between folders.
Compare-allows you to compare the selections you make in the listboxes. Only one selection in each listbox can be made. If you are in the "Similar" mode you need only to make your selection in the left listbox as the application will automatically use the folder with the same name in the right listbox.
Back-after making a comparison using the "Compare" button this will allow you to back-up one level.
